v carving with a.50 90deg v bit

Post by cusoak »

I have a wreath design with leaves I am using a .5 60 degree vbit to cut the tool path.
In the job set up is says that the depth of cut is .279
The wood is soft maple (which is not soft)
I think that in one pass that full depth would be to hard on the bit and machine.
So can If go into the tool data and change the depth of cut for the bit to .125 and will that make the program have to make the cut in more than one pass.

Yes

You don't need to change the "master" database (unless you want to)

You can just edit the tool specs for this job only via the edit button in the Toolpath panel for that particular toolpath

Yes, Look at a side view of the tool path. Change the depth of pass and recalculate to see the pass depths change.
