Looks like you forgot to run the "Clear" toolpath on the last layer.

If you don't mind posting your VCP file it would be easier to help.

I'm using vCarve Desktop 9 with a Piranha XL, 'TAP" files are generated for it.

You still have a VCP file saved with your project including toolpaths. That what would help to see.

vCarve Desktop save 'CRV' project file and forum won't upload it, as it exceeds 3MB

Try zipping the file or put it in Dropbox or Google Drive and post the link.

You didn't run the "bottom level [Clear]" toolpath
Preview without running bottom level [Clear] toolpath<br />Looks exactly like your machining

I thought that too but when I looked closer at the preview and the picture they are not the same. In the preview the top level of the letters and the uncleared portion are at the same z level. In the picture they're not.

On the O and D the darker grain pattern would continue across if the bottom clear toolpath hadn't been run but it's been machined away.

I see what you mean Adrian.

The only other thought is the Z height for the clean up tool on the lower level wasn't set correctly and cut too deep.

2nd level

It's not your design that's fine, but if you don't set the Z zero for the Clear tool and Cleanup tool the the same spot there will be a difference in cut depths.

How are you setting the Z zero for both tools? And where?

Is that done here or do I create another tool path for that?
