Engraving.

Post by cusoak »

Posted here is a picture of a logo that I want to engrave.
I would like some advice on what bits to use to to put a v grove around the out side of the black area
Then v carve the to letters.
I was thinking of using a 30 degree bit for the outer edge.
But not sure about the bit for the letters.
Thanks for your help
Jeff

Is that the actual size? If so I'd probably use a 1/8" 45 or 60. I do a lot of work with small vectors with those two bits. A 30 for the outer edge if you just want it to look like a small line. You don't get much of a noticeable "V" with a 30 though.

depends entirely on the size & the look you are after which only you really know

This is where the toolpath preview really helps you. You can spend as much time as you like trying different bits until you get the look you desire without actually having to cut any material

The toolpath preview is very accurate so make it one of your best friends. it can save you a lot of wasted time & material
