vcarve toolpath cuts in segments?

Post by killersoundz »

hi I am using the vcarve/engraving toolpath to cut some simple rectangles and things so they appear to have squared corners. The program turns it into segments and does a lot of weird stuff, the end result is what I intended but with some variances depending on how accurate the machine is and of course added time so I was just wondering if there is or ever will be any options in this regard?

Likely a problem with your vectors and/or toolpath. But let us check for you...post your file please!

Hi the vectors are literally just simple rectangles I created in the program

Ok. Draw Offset (closed) rectangles to represent the desired width. Then assign a V-carve Toolpath to the inner/outer vectors. You'll have nice, sharp corners inside and out.

It almost looks like you have added very large tabs to the toolpath...

“Hi the vectors are literally just simple rectangles I created in the program . . .”

But the main question (and why Mike wanted to see your file) is how you created the simple rectangles. There are different ways to create them.how you did so could be causing your issue.

Most likely you can fix the problem by selecting all of the vectors and applying the Join-join open vectors tool to them.
