entering a flat nosed V bit in toolbase?
Just picked up a Freud 20-174 1 1/8" V bit and trying finger out how to enter into it into the toolbase...it's 1 1/8" D with a 3/4" cutting depth and has a small "flat" instead of a sharp point. I can't see where to enter the flat that so it displays properly in the preview...Thanks...

You can enter it as an engraving bit and that will let you include the flat angle. I enter all my V bits like these as both engraving and V bits into the tool DB.

Thanks...figures that was the one place I didn't try ;-p
Also having an interesting time trying to enter 2 dish carving bits (1.25 1/4r & 1/2" .125r but I think I've found a short faq on creating a profile for them in "form tools"...Is that heading in the right direction?

Sounds like you're on the right track there. I had to figure that out, with some help from the forum, to enter a round over bit. It's not too hard once you figure out what you need.

Thanks...it's a rare sunny day here in the PacNW so I'll save that fun for the next rainy day...

It appears to also have a fillet where the angled cutting edge meets that flat. So if you really want an accurate depiction of it in the preview I'd enter it as a "form tool".ricphoto wrote:I can't see where to enter the flat that so it displays properly in the preview
