toolpath comments in V9

Post by mhackney »

I've used VCarvePro since R4 or so. I hadn't used V9 much except for tweaking a few older files. This weekend I was doing a new product and I noticed that there is not the little UI element at the very bottom right corner that allowed me to show a dialog of toolpaths and add comments to the selected path. I use this feature with a custom postprocessor I created to insert pause and other commands at the start of a new toolpath. Was this feature removed? I can't find it anywhere.

cheers,
Michael

Click on the Toolpaths Summary icon (clock face). The notes are there. Select the toolpath you want to show notes for in the top list.

Verified I can find it! I like this interface much better, it's just very different so if you didn't know where to go you wouldn't find it.

Thanks!

In vs 9.15 if you double-click the Toolpaths title above the toolpaths you will get the old Toolpath Management box that you can resize and move to anyplace on your monitor.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. Where do we learn about stuff like this?

I always look at the update summary when I upgrade. I missed the Toolpath Management box and was very happy when it came back in 9.15.

It actually came in in V9.009 according to the release notes. Didn't spot it at all but it's not a feature I missed so I probably mentally skipped over it.

Running 9.015 and in the Toolpath Management dialog box there is only a "Close" button at the bottom. When I enter a comment and then select another toolpath the comment is lost unless I click Close first. Is this the same for others? In the Toolpath Summary tab there is an Apply button that works are you'd expect.
