That is a relative question. It depends --- BUT

For my shop - my most popular cutters are.

1) A facing bit - 1" or larger diameter - for facing large things
2) 1/8 2 flute flat end
3) 1/4 2 flute flat end
4) 1/32 Taper Ball Nose
5) 1/16 Taper Ball Nose
6) 1/8 Taper Ball Nose
7) 60 degree "V" groove
8. 90 degree "V" groove

In order of usage
#3 - #6 - #2 - #5

I use other bits as well but these are my most popular.
I think I have 30-40 different cutters I use on my CNC router

In someone else's shop the selection could be entirely different

Like Leo said, it depends. I'm sure there is some "standard", just like if you buy a Shopbot they offer a "starter" kit with "common" bits.

For me, I use, probably pretty close to the order of usage:

1/8" 45 V
1/8" 60 V
1/8" endmill (downcut)
1/4" 60 V
1/4" 90 V
1/4" 90 V (1/2" dia)
1/4" 120 V (1-1/4" dia)
1/4" endmill (downcut)
Keyhole bit
Roundover bit
1-1/2" Surfacing bit

Lots of others I use once in awhile but those are my go to bits for the most part.

All we make are wood signs anymore.

The 1/2 V 90 is the work horse for us.
A 1/2 straight plunge cutter gets used a lot (for hogging out those large flat areas).
1/4 Spirals both up and down cut.

We have a nice set of Japanese Carving knives to clean up any detail.
A stiff hair brush for cleaning out any fuzzies.
And, of course, plenty of sand paper.

No, it's actually a mortise bit I think. Here's info. And it's actually 1-1/4", not 1-1/2" as I posted. Works very well for surfacing, and very cost friendly.
