Engrave on contour

I am making an ornament using the Home and Holidays No 6 assembly and would like to engrave a name along the banner but it has a contour along the z axis. Is there a way to have my v-bit follow the contour? (image attached). I have V carve Desktop v 9.0. Thanks.

Check the box "project toolpath onto 3D object".
