Gear Coaster Tutorial

Post by medevac121 »

I want to spent sometime designing and making coasters, would Vcarve Desktop work or should I use Cut2d. I also may be delusional on this but wasn't there a tutorial on making a gear coaster somewhere.

Gadgets aren't supported in the Desktop version. I bought Desktop thinking I could use them as well and found that it didn't work, unfortunately.

I found a couple gear designers, through Google, that will make them for you in .svg or whatever format. I pull them into Illustrator and tweak them to my needs and then into VCarve Desktop.

woodgears.ca has a gear generator that is a great way to make gears. You can export the gears in a couple of different formats.

FixItMike and I put this together ... it is a Windows program ... please check with virus checker before running.
