Need some help

Post by SB61 »

My wife like the shape of the photo. Can anyone help on how I can get this shape.
I know how to put the monogram letter in the center and cut it out.

Just need help on the shape. Would like to give to her for Christmas.

Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,

Import the photo into your software and center it the best you can.

Draw half (actually just 1/4 if you want it symmetrical all around) the shape using the vector drawing tools. Mirror/copy/rotate that vector section then join the vectors where appropriate.

You can hunt for free fonts that are similar to the monogram style you want, then use that font for the center monogram.

Convert that letter(s) to curves and weld it to your shape. (Or use the Scissors Tool to trim the vectors where required.)

If you are not familiar with drawing vectors, etc., then go to the video tutorials page and learn how. If you get stuck, holler for help and we'll give you a hand.

Sam, I just noticed you posted your question twice and in two different areas of the forum (this is called a double post).

I want to make a gentle suggestion. Please make only one post per topic/question. Otherwise, people may respond to both postings independently and can potentially cause a good bit of confusion for all.

Sam, see if this is what you want, I will try to save as CRV and DXF. If successful, you should be able to load and size to your specs and go from there...joe

You need to join the outer "rectangle" to the letters. Not sure if the Weld tool will work in that instance but you can use the scissors tool to cut out the overlap parts etc. Be sure to have the Join option checked.

Hopefully this is what your looking for. I had to use the cut function to combine
the letters inside the box.

Your not doing anything wrong, you can't open Aspire files with Vcarve, I have resaved it as a vcarve file so it should now open for you.

Sam, glad to hear you are now sorted but it's stanv77 you need to thank, he did all the work, I simply changed his file from crv3D to crv so you could open it, sure he would have done that himself if he had seen your post about not being able to open it before I did.

As for learning the software, how much time have you spent with the tutorials ? They are very good & cover different ways of learning, as well as watching & listening to the videos you can download the files for most of the tutorials so you can follow along with them
