Positive vs Negative carve

Post by Jan.vanderlinden »

Hoping I can explain this right.
I want to carve a OSU logo, but the software switches between a "positive" and "negative" carve.
I want to make the "positive" carve, but if I make the slightest change, the preview will change to a "negative" (which is not what I want)
What am I doing wrong?
Picture 1 is the positive that I want.
Picture 2 is the "negative" that the preview shows me. (that I do not want)

It looks like you are not selecting one of the outer border offset vectors on the second image.

I just created another outer boundary and its working perfectly.
Sometimes you just cant see the forest because of the trees.
Thank you very much for your help.

Here is an example on different results for a vcarving, switching between positive/negative. I think both of them were quite ok...

Your second photo looks the best and is what would be expected, in my personal opinion. Nothing wrong with experimenting!
