Vertical text

Post by bvi8370 »

Hey guys,

I've got a bizarre issue (hoping it's not a feature) with adding text in v9.0. Any text that I try to add is inserted vertically. I can rotate it to horizontal by repeatedly pressing 9 or 0, but that got tedious really fast. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bear

Fonts that start with the "@" sign are vertical text, choose a font that doesn't start with the "@" sign.

You must have just never selected a font with the @ at the start before
It's not something that is new to V9, I have been using the software since V7 & it has always been like that

Hey John,

What do you mean by "Fonts that start with the '@'"? Are you referring to the character map? I'm using the Arial to add a small description to parts. Works as expected in 8.5.

Thanks,

Bear

See the attached picture. Any font that has an @ at the start of it's name will be a vertical font as John says. That's been in VCarve since at least Version 4, it's not new to 9.

OK, I understand the "@" prefixed fonts. However, that only changes the direction of progression of the text. The example in the Manual is clear.
What I need is to present normal English text where each character is upright while the character flow goes from top to bottom. Can't seem to figure out how in Vcarve. Easy in Word, Open Office, Power point, Excel .... I really don't want to enter character at a time.

What I get now: "First Name"

What I want:
F
i
r
s
t

N
a
m
e

It's easy in VCarve as well. Press Enter after each letter as you type them in the text box.
