Walt,
The curves are the same, or they would not match up..

Re: Creating dished heart shape
Thanks. That's what I thought. They just looked different in the first diagram.
Ok, great news, so I have the heart with the island in the middle. You used a pocket toolpath to clean that out. How do I get the bottom of the pocket toolpath to match the contour of the moulding cuts? I've only ever done a flat bottomed pocket.
Major strides. Thank you!

A flat bottom with some hand sanding is what comes to mind first.
If you put your cursor near the "island" and the bottom of the bowl, you should see what depth the pocket could / should be....

Re: Creating dished heart shape
That's kind of the way I was thinking. I did leave a little bit of a flat on the one side of the curve thinking I might want to put an initial or something in the bottom, so that helped out a lot, by pure accident.
Pretty close. The pocket needs just a tad of tweaking.
Thank so much for the help!!! Learned a lot, again.
Now after all that I realized since I resized the curve it's not as deep as I had wanted it. Hopefully going back and redoing all that won't be so bad. Hopefully.

Re: Creating dished heart shape
Hi all.
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I am trying to achieve a heart dish as described in this thread and am having problems. I can achieve the top section of the heart using the moulding toolpath but when setting up the bottom toolpath 'v' the toolpath appears to roll around the point of the v giving me a round bottomed heart rather than a pointed one.
Could anyone point me in the right direction as i am clearly doing something wrong? I use Vcarve Desktop.
My first post on here so hello to everyone and thanks in anticipation.

Re: Creating dished heart shape
It would really help if you could include your file with the post so we can see how you set it up and the bits you used.

Hi Steve.
File enclosed as requested and a picture of the toolpath. It is a long way from being a run-able program and is very much a work in progress! Richard.
