Converting vectors to fonts or?

Post by redwood »

I bought a package of 4" reflective numbers, to put on signs. I scanned them into Aspire and converted them into vectors. Is there a cheap way to convert them into fonts for layout? Or can I merge this file into other files so that I have access to these vectors?

I don't think there is a way to convert vectors into fonts but if you are happy with the scanned vectors you've created, I recommend exporting them as a DXF file. That way you can import it into any file you want. Once you've gotten them imported you can resize, place, and alter them any way you want. You can import that DXF file into any Aspire file you create as many times as you like.

There are lots of programs and websites that will enable you to convert vectors into font files. The most common vector format to use for those is generally SVG which VCarve can export.

The one I use (primarily for ecommerce websites but it does make TrueType font files as well) is https://icomoon.io/
