Looking for help/ideas

Post by Beltramidave »

I was asked if I could machine the attached image. I don't think vcarving would do much for it. Customer isn't really sure what they want. I tried to do a bitmap trace and it didn't come out very well. I was wondering how hard it would be to make a model out of this (I don't have Aspire). Ultimately, I will want to put this on a shield of some sort.

What is the name associated with that coat of arms. I may be able to help you
with vectors.

Hi Mike. That looks pretty good. Did you use a pocket toolpath on the bottom preview? What were your settings?
Thanks!

If you need a 3-D model I do this type of work for others.

The top pic is just a V-carve of the vectors.
The bottom pic is the same, but with a bounding vector around the material. That inverts the carving. Done with a 60 deg V-bit and 1/4" EM large clearing tool.

Mike,
I do not get the same results that you have in your preview. Can you share your .crv file, please?
Thanks for your help!!

Ended up just doing a vcarving with this project as it seemed like the best way.
Just wanted to post the finished piece and thank everyone for their help.
This was done on 1.25" thick walnut. I put the design in a shallow dish.
