VCarve v9.0 Release Date?
Noticed on twitter today a picture with V9.0 coming soon. How long is soon?
Re: VCarve v9.0 Release Date?
I believe "soon" means "when it's ready", sort of like a nice dinner that takes a lot of time and effort to prepare.

New guy question. I recently purchased 8.5. Can you upgrade and is there a cost?

The way it has worked in the past is, if you purchased with in the year of the new release you received the new release for free. Have not heard of any change in this policy (I hope, as I purchased Aspire about 4 months ago).

Michael beat me to it.
Here's what's at the bottom of their upgrade page.
"Updates - Customers buying a new license of any Vectric software programs receive any new versions of the product/s that are released within 12 Months of the purchase date Free of Charge."

I'm sitting on the fence whether to upgrade from desktop to pro.

It really comes down to what you do with your machine & where you want to go in the future, desktop is very capable & if it meets all your needs then I can see why you would want to stick with it. It wouldn't actually be any good to me because of the table size limitation. Apart from that it would probably be OK for most of what I do, I don't use gadgets or nesting & don't have a rotary axis.ElevationCreations wrote:I'm sitting on the fence whether to upgrade from desktop to pro.
You could always download the trial version to see if the extra features would really be of any benefit to you, although I don't use them there are a lot of other people using the gadgets & there are quite a few available

Well that narrows it down a bit from your last guess LeoLeo wrote:My guess

As guesses go - my guess is march-may 2017. BUT, I could be off by as much as 2-3 years.

Re: VCarve v9.0 Release Date?
Going from vcarve Pro 8.5 to vcarve 9.0 is an upgrade, not an update, and is not covered under the 1 year of free updates.
X.0 to X.5 is a minor version update. (I.e. 8.0 to 8.5)
X.0 to Y.0 is a major version upgrade. (I.e 8.5 to 9.0)

Re: VCarve v9.0 Release Date?
The policy states any new version within 12 months regardless of whether it's an upgrade or update. That's certainly the way it's always been in the past and I haven't seen any announcements that it has changed.
"Customers buying a new license of any Vectric software programs receive any new versions of the product/s that are released within 12 Months of the purchase date Free of Charge."
