drawing stone arc above windows and doors

Post by RAILATED »

Hello, being a very new starter in using Vcarve pro we want to build some railway model buildings. Can you help me with tips for drawing an arc shaped row of bricks that you often see above windows and doors (in Dutch called a 'rollaag' I do not know the English word for this) In the tutorials I learned about the Rocket name plate in arc shape but I can not find how to create this for a curved row of bricks. Thank you !

It's just a few easy steps to do that.
1. Draw an arc.
2. Import the Clipart model of the "Flat Rectangle" that comes with V-Carve
3. Rotate that component 90 degrees.
4. Copy that component along the arc.

I copied it 12 times, but you can do what looks correct for you.

Hope this helps.

To get the angle for edge to edge, I did the following.
Using the Center of the Material as base.
Draw a Circle for outside of Arc (origin center)
Draw a Circle for the inside Arc (origin center)
Draw a line across the diameter of the outside Circle
Clone the line once
Rotate one of the lines 15 degrees.
Cut out all lines that did not make a "block"
Join the vectors
Copy, Rotating about the center 12 times for 180 degrees

Klungy but it didn't take all that long.

Not sure if you are just wanting to draw the arch as part of a project, or wanting a to create an actual stone arch and need the shapes for the stone.
This site may be of use to you.

Remember guys, the poster has put this in the V-Carve section..
I can only assume that the solution must be from using V-Carve, not Aspire.

How did this work out for you RAILATED?
Which technique did you go with?
Any pictures of the work?

Curious Minds ;)
