Vcarve keeps carving the wrong lines

Post by lostcreekwoodworking »

I am building several ring cases and would like to use my CNC to carve the bottoms. I designed the grid work in the bottom so that the sides can side recessed. Each time I try to program the tool path Vcarve keeps carving the opposite of the area I want.

I have a picture of my design but can't figure out how to attach.

Picture and/or VCP file would be very helpful.

Under the message area is a button Upload attachment. Uploaded files must be less than 2M.

If it's a profile toolpath you're using check that the vectors are closed. If they're open it may cut on the "wrong" side depending on where the start node is. Definitely upload the file though as it's almost impossible to be certain what the issue is though without seeing what you're doing.

Keeps saying my picture is the wrong format. I wasn't able to take a screenshot so took a picture of the screen.

It's the actual VCarve file (CRV) that you need to attach. A picture isn't likely to help much for this sort of issue as it's hard to spot an open vector or other vector issues from a picture.

It's the actual vcarve file that Adrian is talking about, the one you save from within vcarve providing there are no copyright problems with it, you may have copy it to a new file & post without the toolpaths to fit within the upload limit or another way people do it is to put it in a drop box file & post the link

OK so looking at the file can you explain what you would like to do ? you have 2 line vectors in there that you probably don't want, one at the top of the first & second square on the second row, they may be throwing you if you are box selecting.

The outer square has an overlapping vector in the upper right corner. There is another node under the green start node.
The extra nodes near the other corners are not needed and can be deleted.
The large center square is duplicated
The second square from the top on the left has a duplicate line

I've attached a cleaned up version
