Re: Bevel the end of a part
Not completely unrelated: here is a bowl I did with the fluting toolpath. This was a response to a friend who complained about the time it took to sand out tool marks in the bowls he machined with a full 3d file. My idea was to accentuate the tool marks and possibly gild the interior of the bowl. I did run the file in foam but got busy with real work and never completed the bowl in wood... yet.

Love your computer stand Scott. Love that ergo keyboard as well I have used those since when they first came out and find it very hard to type on a normal keyboard when I do have to. (I think having monster sized hands doesn't help either though )scottp55 wrote:Thanks for pointing out my mistake Mike!
I'd been doing troughs for displays using linear and circular arrays, and just spaced it when I answered
I too loved the fluting toolpath:)

Re: Bevel the end of a part
Off topic:(
Thanks Dwayne, but it was necessary as with the old set-up I kept bashing my foot on the kickboard in the wheelchair and spent months in bed waiting for it to heal
Loving it now with the 'chair, and now the whole thing is unitized so I can move it in 1 good push to access the whole machine/DC.
Love the ergonomic MS keyboard, but now on my third in 3 years because of dust/coffee/etc
Had the quilted for years and hadn't made anything with for years...the measurements of that piece were perfect:)

Walt, I know that was said tongue in cheek but actually that is something Scott should really look into, being in a chair himself puts him in an ideal position to think about & produce items for others who have the same sort of problems, bet there is a market for a lot of stuff Scott could produce.WaltS wrote:Hey Scott, awesome keyboard holder. However, a cut like this with the fluting tool does cut faster with alternate starting points.

Cut it yourself Walt:)
Also a putzing fluting file.
Disclaimer;
In 2014 I knew even less than today:)
All kinds of mistakes and easier ways to do thing, if I did it today.
Check file carefull and adapt to your machine and bits.
This was for Oregon Big Leaf Maple quilted AAAA.

Re: Bevel the end of a part
Thanks!
After more than 2 years of yarding the machine around(usually by grabbing the computershelf) I haven't broken or damaged it yet.
I musta done something right!!
