Hello there all you knowledgeable people,
I have just had my firs go at inlaying and was very much pleased with the result to the extent that I cut the sea horses for a present for my sister in law whose birthdfay is coming up.
When I cut out a profile cut it cut a bit strangely. The top right corner and the top and bottom left have rounded corners instead of the nice crisp one that are shown in the vcp preview.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what causes this please.
Thank you in advance

ROund corners on a cut oout
I second this. If your using Mach3 turn off your constant velocity. I leave mine off all of the time with excellent results.lockeyone wrote:If this was on my machine I would say my constant velocity in my mach software was turned on. Depending on what I am cutting I need to remember to turn it on or off as needed.

I am presuming we are talking about Mach software.
The thing that produces rounded corners with constant velocity is slow acceleration rates.
The higher the acceleration the less this will occur.
It is a combination of general machine rigidity and motor torque that affects how much acceleration the machine can handle.
So some machines will perform better with constant velocity and others will not. With some cutting jobs better with CV and some not.
For example, on my router it is on all the time with no measurable rounding. Acceleration approx 0.2g

Gentlemen,
Thank you very much for your advice, it was spot on. I turned the constant velocity off and my machine cut good sharp corners. It is something I have though about but never really understood the purpose of. All part of being new to cnc I suppose.
Thanks again.
