I have difficulty getting the results I intend from boolean adds/subtract commands. is there a video that you could recommend?

That would be for the "Combine with components..." section. I have looked for that myself. The Vectric tutorial videos show some of the options (primarily Add) but only in a limited way and only as they pertain to a specific sample job.

They're not actually Boolean operations as such but, rather, "Boolean-ish". As they apply in the order of the components in the tree. Two objects are always one-on-top of the other and many Boolean operations presume that two objects are co-equal.

A video that does a pretty good job at explaining the modes is this:



Although I do notice he doesn't talk about the "multiply" mode (filled in circle),

There are other things about the component model that would be good to know but are not covered in that particular video. I'll have to check other ones in his series on "3D modelling for Newbies".
