4.0 question

Post by kzeyus »

Sent this to Tony and Brian, but since it's late in jolly old England and curosity is getting the best of me, I wanted to post this and see if a) others get the same results or b) if any one can point out a difference in way I setup my 3.1 and 4.0 versions to explain why my 4.0 toolpath seems to show many more jog moves and longer run time than 3.1

I created the file in 4.0 and noticed a lot of jog moves in the vbit toolpath, so I exported as eps and brought into 3.1 and tried to re-create with exact same tools an parameters. Maybe I've done something different in 3.1 and 4.0 with tool setup or something, but I'm overlooking it if so.

Thanks!

Thanks!
Try and import the same eps that you imported in 3.1 back into 4 and I am sure you will see a difference. Import the exact same file not one that looks like it.

Try grouping like items and then run a toolpath for each one...

VCP will generate a toolpath in order that they are selected....

Banshee first
cycle club second

so forth..
this will keep your rapids to a minimum.

Mark296: It was the same .eps used in both versions.

Chuck: Thanks, your suggestion will work as a workaround for now.

Tony has been in contact and has added the problem to his list of todo's.

Thanks for the help!

Hi kzeyus,
I was talking about the eps you exported from Vcarve 4 and imported into 3.1. Vcarve 4 may have cleaned it up during the export so it looked better in 3.1 Hope you didn't take offence in my explanation.

I never take offence in online communications - it's all to easy to misunderstand what someone means or says online, but it sure is helpful to have these resources!
