Radius issue?

Post by lockeyone »

I am having a radius problem. I am using a 1/4" bit to cut this but my radiuses are too large. The picture of the box I am cutting shows it. The file attached is the pocket I am cutting. I am using Mach2/3 ATC (inch) post processor. Non of the other Mach2/3 posts will let me use them, it gives me an radius in line# error message. Any ideas?

Hi Lock,

Interesting. Took me a bit to figure out what you were complaining about, then I realized that you did not have radii in ALL the corners.

You might want to look at how you have your Constant Velocity parameters set in Mach. About the only thing I can think of.

I looked at the NC code, and there are no G2 or G3 commands that would tell it to cut those arcs. So the only thing left is Mach.

Let us know what happened?

I was hoping with the sharp corners it simply would go to the corner and make a turn for the next line, not really an arc. I did put arcs in the drawing and it did the same thing.

I think it has to do with the constant velocity conture settings.
If it is off you should get better corners.
It has a tendency to round the corners when it tries to maintain the velocity.

Well checking the constant velocity did the trick. Definetly cuts differant. I cut some circles later and had to set it back again because it was going so slow. Thanks guys. :D
