VCarvePro - nooby question(s)

Post by rhds1 »

I am new to CNC, but not to woodworking or computers. I bought an Oliver 1013 IntelliCarve and so far
it has worked flawlessly. The i-Picture software is very simple to work with.

I am considering purchasing the VCarve Pro to expand the use of my machine. I have some questions.
First, will this software work and will it help my machine do more or better work? I am just a hobbyist
so it is not a production machine. Second, would I need a Post Processor for my machine, and if so is
there one available (at what price)? If not, do I select one of the included post processors? Any
suggestions or help is certainly appreciated. Rick

If you haven't downloaded the trial version you should... it is fully functional but won't let you create enough g-code to run your designs. It does have samples that you can play with and cut. Anything you design in the trial version will be available to cut after purchase as long the license is installed on the same computer as the trial version.

Welcome to CNC!

I have downloaded the demo version. Basically stumped on the post processor, whether I need one or not for my machine.

yes you need a post processor, it usually comes with aspire.
IF not they can usually help you find it.

From the Oliver brouchure...
SOFTWARE
The included i-Picture software program has the ability to
convert pixel images in the form of .jpg, .bmp, .png, and .gif
files into the 3D carvings. I-picture also has the ablity to
take G01 G-code files from other CAM programs such as
PhotoVcarve & VCarve Pro. (Call for more information.)
So I'd guess you would select the G Code post processor.

If that doesn't work try calling Oliver Machinery at 1-800-559-5065

Do a search on "Oliver" and you'll get some guidance. This same question came up within the last two months and you can see the Vectric answers/solutions to the problem.

Just an FYI. I called Oliver today to see if they had a postp for the 1013 Intellicarve for VCarve Pro. I was
called back within 30 minutes by their tech support man. He was at a manufacture's show in Atlanta until next
week but he gave me his email address so I could send my request (to tickle his memory when he got back) and
he will email me the post processor for the 1013. So there is one, next week I should have it.
