Always wants to cut flat bottom

Post by truman »

I was trying to just carve a plain sign without the flat bottom feature and I un checked the box for flat carving but it still always wants to cut a flat bottom even with the v bit? is there a way to turn that off?

Sure is. Post screen shots so we can see what's going on... have you recalculate the toolpath once unchecked the option?

It sounds like you want to Profile cut with a v bit

so you are saying that if I just want to cut the letters I would just choose profile? would that automatically adjust for line thickness and everything else?

A profile will cut on; inside; or outside.....It just depends upon what you are looking for.
If you wish to engrave the letters then a profile will be the right choice.
If you wish to cut the letters out then the same thing applys...but cut completely thru.

There are so many ways to skin a cat when it comes to VCarving....

V Carving is for enclosed regions......but profile cuts on the other hand...it doesn't matter...it will cut what you want.

Hope this helps ya out
