Anyone have parts designed for Traditional Gun Cabinet?

Post by GreggM »

The large butt pad is 2" by 6 1/2" (goose gun) ... others are deer rifles and .22s
want to make cabinet for 8 rifles not sure the spacing between pockets for butt plates and barrel notches and space to end panels?
appreciate any dimensions or ready made file (I have Aspire)
thanks
Gregg

Hi Guys,

This is a very old post, I am at the point where I want to do a gun safe fit out , much the same as Gregg.

Any suggestions?

Max

A lot of that will depend on what you're looking for and what you have and only you know that. There are a lot of ways to make a gun cabinet, but the bottom line is that you shouldn't need pre-made plans for something that is relatively simple, especially when you have VCarve to work with. Do you want your guns to be really close to each other, do you want the upper notches to only touch the barrel or lower on the stock, do you want the guns to be straight on or at an angle, do you have a lot of bolt guns that take up extra space, do any of them have scopes that you have to account for? Once you figure all that out, then it's a matter of making a repeating series of notches near the top and ovals on the bottom, all within a large box like structure.

Hi Sharkcutup,

Great idea to leave rifle butt footprint front open, and to put them on a angle.

Thank you for posting the photo's

Cheers

Hello MAXJ,

Here are the DXF files for the Upper and Lower frames as measured from my gun cabinet.
upper frame.dxf
(47.4 KiB) Downloaded 101 times
lower frame.dxf
(60.06 KiB) Downloaded 83 times
Good Luck in making your Gun Cabinet!

I would also like to note that the Upper frame fits to the back of cabinet this will allow the rifles to lean towards the back at the barrel end. The Upper frame is also staggered a bit to the right allowing rifle to lean towards the right just a bit too! By doing this allows rifles/shotguns can be seen better and the user has better access to each as they are not straight into the cabinet.
