Pen Writer/holder

Post by jefritz »

Does anybody out there have any advice on settings, pressure, toolpaths, etc. for using the CNC pen holder/writer
that I got from Rockcliff a while ago ??
I believe I have some ideas for applications for this gadget, but I could use some start-up procedure advice.
Any help is appreciated ..... John

Hi John,

Have you contacted the manufacturer to see if they have any particular setting recommendations?

Hi Michael - Only sparce centerline and basic pressure setup ... nothing
on z-axis start height or speeds.

Ok. You might just need to do some tests on your own. Keep notes you can refer to in the future, for repeating the “good results”

Start with the “pressure” they recommend. Z-Height doesn’t really matter other than making sure the marker lifts enough not to drag unintended lines across your drawing.

A while back I built a pen holder and ran a test. Came out pretty good.

I used the engraving toolpath and the diamond drag bit tool parameters. I set the depth/pressure to .06", this isn't all that critical just so long as it won't exceed the travel on the pen.

Hope this helps.

Hi John,

Please upload a photo or two of what you draw after you get everything dialed in!
