Save crv file

Postby Hundgubbe » Wed May 16, 2018 12:10 pm

How do I save a VCP file as something like a jpeg? Basically I do the design, but then want to send it to a layman for them to preview and approve.

After creating your toolpaths and running toolpath previews, there is a 'Save Preview Image' button to do this.

And if you want to send just the design before toolpathing then you can use the Export option on the File Menu to a format like PDF which most people can view.

Export is disabled in the demo version. Does Aspire now export the model as a 3D pdf?

This feature was really lacking in the previous versions.

PDF Export is just the vectors the same as the DXF, EPS etc options it's not 3D.

Thanks Adrian.

This feature would really be useful as it allows anybody (unless you have a very old computer or software) to view a 3D object without any specialised 3D software.

We use this feature with other softwares and provide the pdf to customers for validation.

The only export options I get are: EPS, DXF, AI or SVG - no PDF option.

Which version of VCarve do you have? PDF is from V9 onwards.

Version 8.5. Don't really want to upgrade as apart from this I dont need anything else, and 2 machines have computers that aren't, and can't be connected to the net.

I ran the toolpaths preview, and saved as jpeg. But it shows the toolpaths including the machine moves from start position etc. Any way to save without these showing? I only use 2D for flat pieces cutting all the way through.

Uncheck the toolpath visibility in the toolpath list and it will remove the move etc from the preview.

I use the eps export quite often. Most people can view those.

I can understand someone not wanting to upgrade if they feel that the new features aren't something they will need or use but I don't understand your comments about the 2 machines that can't be connected to the internet. You don't need to connect a computer to the internet to upgrade, the upgraded version can be downloaded & then saved to a flash disk or some other portable media for transfer to the non internet computer.
I have computers at my workshop that I do this with as I have no internet access there

Ha, yeah I heat what you're saying Martin. But if you're not very computer literate, computers running old XP and latest windows 10, loggind in to vectric, where to save files to' messages like 'are you sure you want to replace this file' etc , it's just potential hassle I can do without :D
