Form Tool?
Question, Is it possible to create a form tool for perhaps a slotting cutter? Or how about a double round over (top and bottom in a single pass)? A tool that cant plunge but rather has to move outside its major diameter and then come in from the side?

With a bit that can't plunge such as a keyhole bit either a hole big enough to plunge the bit into the material then a vector to cut the desired path. You may have to create a vector that doubles back on it's self to enter, cut the desired path and then return to the opening where the bit plunged into the material.
The other option if applicable is create a vector that starts off the edge of the material.

Re: Form Tool?
No.
You cannot enter a tool form with an return (one that makes an undercut). This is because Aspire and VCarve represent the material as consisting of pixels with height. The software has no provision for floating or undercut pixels.

With 2-sided rendering now a feature I'm hoping/wishing/imagining that vectric programmers are hot on the challenge of being able to render the toolpath results of bits that undercut. I'm particularly wanting to see what my dovetail cuts look like before cutting them.FixitMike wrote:The software has no provision for floating or undercut pixels.

Sorry I could not resist.
