Scroll Saw Pattern

Post by citrusguy »

This was adapted from a ScrollSaw(?) magazine pattern using AutoCAD and Cut2D. Wood is red oak about 8 x 12 inches. I used a 60° engraving bit and cut about 20 thou. deep. Then stained all over with a dark stain. When dry, I remounted in my router and shaved off top 10 thou. using a 3/4 inch dia. bit, leaving the dark lines and pocketed areas. Finished with clear varnish. I have a home on the edge of a Florida swamp, hence the subject seemed appropriate. I plan to do another using a piece of Florida cypress wood.

Cut2D's pocketing feature made this project easy. Thanks Vectric.

Thank you. On my next attempt I plan to try thick colored epoxy as a filler to simulate an inlay.
