Illuminated name

Post by Jay C »

Used Cut2D to engrave a child's name in cast acrylic.

Tool used: 60-deg carbide V-bit
DOC: total .125"

After the part was cut out, use 220grit, then 800 grit sandpaper to smooth and polish edges. Simple circuit using 6 super bright LEDs wired in serial to a switch and current limited to 20mA.

Hi Jay,
The illuminated sign turned out very good! Where are the lights located?
Thanks for posting the information and picture.
Best regards,

Lights are underneath. Here is the first sign I did for my son. The letters are completely routed out so the effect is diminished. I uses a bamboo drawer organizer as the "base".

I have plans to mix the acrylic with some nice wood to make a sign for my sons therapist ... he deserves it :)

Oh, and the Evan sign was my first ever CNC ... it use Lexan and I stupidly peeled the protective paper before milling.
