Been in a self imposed CNC rut lately, nothing much to post.
Was tooling around in the garage and decided to fire up the machine. I have had this dfx for weeks, and decided to cut it in .5 plexi.

Came out decent, not my best work. Was basically a scrap piece, with scratches all over and some glue from the backing still stuck on.
Detail is not that sharp, but it felt good to create something anyhow.

What kind of cutter did you use? Did you speed up your feed also? I'm going to try acrylic this week been hesitant to cut one.
I have done lithos before.

90 degree v bit, only .009 cutting depth.
You just need to scratch the surface, the deeper you go, the more detail that you will lose.
I have found that the recipe for successfully etching plexi is slower router RPM's and faster feed. This minimizes the heat buildup that can [will] cause plexi to weld itself back together, and build up on the bit tip. I had a slight build up on this one, which caused the details to appear less than stellar.
I use about 8,000 rpm and 200 ipm, vs wood I would use 16,000 and 100 or so - Don't forget to "flip" your image in your cutting program, unless you want the cut side to be the display side.

On a rock n roll roll, did this stones tongue today.
As often happens, I forgot to flip the image ,,, Even though I reminded someone else not to forget about that just yesterday.
So this tongue is backwards, but doesn't make a huge difference. I think I'll try painting this one red and see how it looks.

You might try coating the surface with Vaseline. Works for me, but I've only done about three so far, with no melting or adhering of chips to the bit at about 13K rpm.

Thanks for the tip John, I'll keep that in mind.
Sometimes, a little lube works wonders !
So far though, slower RPM's and higher feedrate has worked out pretty good.
