Hi all, I have another clock to share. Its a negator spring clock with weight driven remontoire and grasshopper mechanism. All the part toolpaths were generated with Cut 2d. Great project, the remontoire works perfectly! Have a look at the youtube video for operation of the remontoire. The clock rewinds the remontoire every 15s. I have only ever seen a wooden remontoire on a clock by Rob Pirtle but was unable to get in contact with him about it. I managed to reverse engineer the mechanism from tower clock pictures on Mark Frank's website. Enjoy!

All those gears makes my head hurt, but it looks first class and double kudos for all the reverse work.

Too nice.
Beautiful work. Something about a clock with wooden gears just pleases me to no end.
Thanks for sharing.

That's a lovely piece of work. How long did it take?

Re: new wooden gear clock "Remonter"
From start to finish this one took me about 150 hours including about 25 hours of design. Fabrication of parts probably took me about a day once all the toolpaths had been created. It was a fun project. The remontoire is amazing to watch. Using a remontoire enables you to provide torque closer to the escapement. This clock runs using a 10 g mass! The spring drive only serves to rewind the remontoire and advance the clock hands every 15 s.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you all enjoyed it!

Very very impressive. Well done. I dream about the day I make my wooden gear clock, but my problem so far is to find matching brass tube and rod that fit each other.

Re: new wooden gear clock "Remonter"
I forgot to mention to check out "Remonter" and several other designs on my website at www.ontimewoodenclocks.com. Nautica will be available as a kit for the amateur woodworker in the near future. All parts will be on templates. All the clock frame pieces will be supplied as wooden blanks to be cut and drilled accordingly. The kit will come with a pre-milled pendulum bob and empty wooden weight shell. All the hardware required to complete the clock will be included and there will be an instruction manual included with necessary diagrams.
Thanks again
