What Software does it take to do 3d carving
I am looking into upgrading to Vcarve desktop
I now have C2d desktop.

To do 3D machining using Design and Make models you can use Design and Make Machinist (formerly 3D Machinist), Cut3D, VCarve or Aspire.

With 3D Machinist and Cut3D you can also import the created 3D toolpaths into Cut2D. VCarve will enable you to toolpath 3D models directly, combine them, add 2D toolpaths onto them etc. Aspire will let you create models from scratch as well as edit imported ones etc.
