Heart shaped box

I made a 1.5 'high heart shaped box with a heart shaped pocket off set by .25 from the out side 1.25 inches deep.
Then I used the same heart shape and made a lid. Using the same vector as I did for the pocket and the out side shape I cut a pocket there. Then another toolpath to cut the top out.
Well to my surprize the top did not fit into the pocket in the bottom.
So I am trying to figure out to set up to cut the inner shape smaller in the top to allow it to fit
Is there some way to do a inner cut allowance.
Or how do I make the top fit into the box.

My guess is that you used the "default" setting of climb mill. Cut conventional direction

Not sure how changing direction of the cutter that will make the area of the top that needs to be smaller any smaller when it is still following the same vector.
That is what I needs to happen.
I thought I saw a video some where that showed how to fit 2 parts together using some offset that all you need to do was input a value.

Because machines flex, especially hobby machines like the ShapeOKO.

When climb cutting, the tool is pushing away from the part, resulting in slightly larger parts.
Conventional cutting pulls the tool into the part, resulting in slightly smaller parts.

:) This is my first post on the forum so go gentle. I make small boxes on my 8 X 8 milling machine bed. I gained a tremendous insight from John Clark.

He has about 3 or 4 videos on box making.
Hope this helps you out

If you will post your file, we would be happy to review it and advise the method to cut it correctly. Have to no issues helping.

Here is a Heart Shaped Box crv file for you to look at. Note the use of ALLOWANCE on the Toolpaths to enlarge and shrink cuts. The value comes from a document variable so you can tune the cut for your machine. I leave it a little loose coming off the machine so I can apply finish.
