Climb or Conventional

Postby Robert Dunn » Mon Dec 04, 2017 9:08 pm

Good day,
I typically cut metal, but I am considering a wood project. Should I mill hardwood with a climb or conventional cut? Can you also suggest speeds and feeds for end mills 1/8" and smaller? (I have max rpm of 10,000)

It depends. Conventional will almost always give a better finish, but can cause tearout when cutting near or along edges.
At 10K RPM, try between 80-150 ipm, and up to .125 DOC.
