plung 2 deep?

Post by auga »

I have just purchased cut2d software and I having some issues with the plunge amount.

I have a 1000m X 1000m with tiny g controller. Have been using open source with great success.

In 2dcut I create a small sample sign 180 mm X 75mm
Material is 14mm thick, with the z set to the top.
XY at the lower left corner
units set to mm.

The first 2d profile cut depth starting (D) at 0.0
cut dept (C) 14.5 mm

using end mil 1/8 in size

Using a simple test with a dry run, no bit.

Measure the bottom of the z it is at 60mm from the waste board.
start a dry run it plunges down to 38mm. 22 mm.

Can not figure out why it goes down to 22mm to start cutting.

selecting the tinyg (MM) when saving tool paths.

Any ideas?

Did you zero the cutter to the TOP of the MATERIAL?

It kinda sounds like you set zero to the table.

I had the Z safe to high, so it was not allowing the z to go up high enough. Therefore it would come down the 20-first plung. Fixing the z safe to 5 fixed the issue.

Thanks folks.
