I'm trying to get Cut 2D Pro work on a gear. I loaded the picture of a gear (PDF file) into Cut 2D but it treated the picture as one object. I looked in the faqs saw where Vector Magic was mentioned
so I gave it a try. Vector Magic says my PDF file doesn't include vector object?!
I really want to cut clock gears with my router before I pull all my hair out.

Re: converting PDF files / making gears
PDF files can contain bitmaps or vectors or a mixture of both. Cut2D can import both but bitmaps will need to be manually or automatically traced to produce vectors before toolpaths can be created.
Vector Magic is a bitmap tracer that does the same job as the automatic trace function within Cut2D but with a few more options.

Re: converting PDF files / making gears
My immediate question would be was PDF the source format for the gear? If not then perhaps the source format file might be a better one to use?

Depending on what you want geargenerator.com lets you download an SVG file which can be imported as a vector.
