Hi everyone. I have recurring issue when cutting hard materials (brass) with a V Cutter. No matter how slow I set the feed rate, cutter will always break, leaving the job unfinished. I wonder if this is a typical situation (you need 8 new cutters to finish a job) of there is a way to get the job done with a single cutter?
I can't recall exact settings right now (it's dinner time now) but believe me, I have tried a lot of settings during these years.
Is there an obvious factor I am not taking into account?

Are you using any sort of lubricant while cutting and how rigid is your machine?

I could answer that question (I think) but my english isn´t good enough. Sorry.
Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Messing. Zum fräsen, gravieren, CNC-bearbeiten ist die Legierung "MS63" (CuZn37) wegen des hohen Anteils an Kupfer nicht gut geeignet.
Durch das weiche Kupfer setzen die Schneidezähne des Werkzeugs sich zu und der Fräser bricht ab.
Besser geeignet ist Messing "MS58" (CuZn42) das härter ist und durch seinen geringeren Anteil an Kupfer weniger zum "schmieren" neigt. Der Zusatz eines Schneidmittels ist bei Wahl des richtigen Werkzeugs dann nicht nötig.

The problem with v shaped cutters as I was pointed out by a machinist is that the cutter speed at the point is basically zero. This was right after I broke a really expensive 90 degree cutter trying to make a v shape across a piece of steel. You can get away with all kinds of stuff (and get good results) in soft material, less so when you get to metals. Can you might try jigging the part up at 45 degrees and use a square end endmill.

Hello!
I do a lot of brass cutting. Even with V-Bit. No break att all under normal condition.
I broke a lot of tool until I had the right parameters. Now I have it.
So if you need help we need data.
What is the size of your tool?
How is the brass fixed?
Which values did you test allready?
