Cut2d Laser Updates

Post by asboyd »

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if there will be an update for Cut2D Laser (Darkly Labs) for 8.5?
I have clicked the check for updates but nothing so far.

Cheers,
Alex Boyd :)

I am interested in an update to Cut2D Laser as well. I am anxious to be able to import SVG files from Inkscape.

Hi,

There will be an update but there is still some work being done at Darkly Labs, I'm afraid we don't have a release date available at this time. When it is available users will be able to download the installer from their Vectric Portal account.

I recently upgraded from Cut2D Laser 8.0 to Cut2D Laser 8.5 When I create a toolpath and look at the estimated time I get something like 2540:01:31 for a toolpath that used to be 3:05. I haven't run the toolpath yet on my emblaser machine to see how long it really takes but 2540 hours seems like an error. I also looked at a toolpath created in 8.0 that had a tool type of "cut" if I try and edit that path the only tool type option is "laser cutter" and once I save the path with a "laser cutter" tool type I get the same incredibly high time estimate. Any idea what I have wrong?

Thanks Michael, I emailed support after seeing your post. (I'm not sure why I didn't think of emailing support myself...)

I got a response first thing this morning.

"I am afraid that there is a known problem with the hours section of the toolpath estimates on version 8.517 of Cut2D Laser desktop.
This has been rectified with future builds of the program, but we are awaiting some work further information from Darkly Labs before a future version will be released."

I'm glad you received such a prompt response. But, sorry to hear about the bug-fix wait time due to Darkly Labs.
