I am trying to define a new bit for the cut2d desktop: bit is a bowl and tray, 1/4 radius, 1/4 shank, 3/4 cutting diameter, 5/8 cutting length and 2 3/8 overall length. I have defined the vector, gone to the tools display database and selected new to open the new tool type info screen. I am selecting a form tool which brings up all the particular information to input as to the bit itself. It even shows the bit diagram of the shape of the tool which I generated in to a vector for the program. Once I enter everything in, I click on apply and okay and it enters the tool in to the database. However, when I go to pick the tool to perform a toolpath, it does not show the tool diagram nor will the tool come in to the 2d toolpath profile. Can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Even though the bit info is being saved in the tool database the tool shape (vector shape) isn't being saved. So I am assuming this is why I can't select the tool bit to perform a tool path operation?
I have done several other bits, a 1 inch straight cut, a rounding over e/8 radius 5/8 cutting length bit and an ogee bit. These all saved in to the tool database along with the shapes of the tools being reflected when you view the appropriate tool in the database.
Appreciate any help that can be given.

Re: Defining New Tool - Bowl and Tray Bit
Which toolpath are you trying to create? Not all toolpaths can use all the different types of tools.
If there was a problem with the vector (undercut etc) then you should be getting a warning when you try to create the tool and it wouldn't be in the database at all. From what you're saying the tool is in the database and seems fine until you try to select it for a toolpath.

RE: Adrian
I was just trying to make a generic rectangle using both the pocket and regular profile toolpath functions to just give me an idea what it would look like in the 3d view. In creating the new tools referenced in the original post, all were new tool profiles created by using the new creation function. The only warning I got was when I didn't have the new bit vector in the proper format to create the new tool. All the new tool bits I created worked and was able to use and create a 3d view except for the bowl and tray tool bit.
