Hi, Just trying to learn Cut2d and I have a problem I think. I am trying to rout out names on a piece of oak 8.0"x16.5". I can get the tool path for cutting the blank down to a finished size of 7.5"x16.0". That's fine, but, When I run the tool paths for the text, some of the lines for the text do not show. On the word "WELCOME" it works fine. Anybody know what I am doing wrong. I am uploading some screen shot examples. (I hope). I am real new to this CNC stuff. I am going to run Cut2d and Mach3. Right now I have trial version if that makes a difference.
Thank You,
Jim

Re: cut2d text
What happens if you tell the program to use a smaller diameter tool.
To me, it just looks like the tool is to big to fit in some areas of the text so it just leaves sections uncut.

Ozymax is correct, the tool is too big. You can see it on the WELCOME picture. The toolpath isn't complete, especially on the W.
At the bottom of the toolpath tab turn on the Solid Preview. Everywhere the tool can fit will then show in solid colour which will make it really obvious where the problem is. You need to use a smaller tool, bigger lettering or switch to single line fonts.

OK ,Adrian and Ozymax, I will try that. I will post the results later. Thank You. I make personalized stools for little kids with their names on them. right now I am using a sign making kit with a 1/4" ball nose bit which is really a slow way to do it. I hoping a cnc will speed it up a bit where I could rout two tops at the same time.

Jim,
Perhaps try a 60/90degree engraving bit with a large(.03 to .05") flat?
