I am not Stefan, but I believe he did it this way
same as litho but don't invert need to adjust line space to real low ie 15 or lower also will need to use small bit ie 1/16 or smaller depending on size / detail

I think your carving is actually pretty good (better than some of the ones I tried ), the main thing you need to change is the wood you used. Try a carving in cherry, or maple, or any other hardwood with less obvious grain.
