Did you do this with PVC? or with Aspire? I haven't quite figured out how to do it with Aspire yet.

PVC and VCP I haven't had time to play much with Aspire trial (awaiting postman for my copy). I am reading everything you guys are doing. looks great . I have seen reference that litho can be done in aspire, but haven’t seen anyone do it yet . I am sure when I get comfortable with Aspire that is what I will use. But as I think I have a decent understanding of how to make them with PVC I will be doing them this way for now ...

Its fairly Easy in Aspire.

Here is an Eagle I did in less than 5 mins.

1. Import Image (a good resolution so you cut down on the noise)
2. Make component from bitmap.
3. Go into component manager and subtract component.
4. Then while in componant manager set component height (in this case since its subtracted its component depth)

Thats it.

Here are some screen capture, and last one is tool path simulated.

Great looking Eagle litho Kent! The release of Aspire has attracted most of the attention on the forum as of late, and understandably so. I don't think I will be able to experience it for a while so I will just be happy with the other Vectric software for the meantime.
What size tool and stepover di you use with the Eagle litho? Thanks for the information and posting the picture!
Best regards,

Kent, your eagle looks great, question is there a need to invert the image as in PVC? I tried one in the trial software and to me it looks like it should be inverted see attached.......... Buck

Nice job Kent,

You seem to have the litho's down....... Do you sell them or give them away as gifts????

How was the reaction to your BS Farms BOX?

Thanks Nick, I have sold a few smaller ones. I cut alot for gifts. and the rest cut for me... If I get a good offer on one I would sell it. Unfortunatly to get a high resolution litho it takes long carve time, not to mention getting the material ( Corian any ways) is tough and not cheap. so mistakes cost ... I make fewer mistakes but they do happen and lose steps can kill you :( I believe I have that issue fixed .
It seems like the comissioned lithos would take 2 tries to get them to my standard to sell. Of course pratice makes that happen less I hope.

They really liked the crate, but it seemed to be second fiddle to the olives that they contained
So I was real happy , I get to harvest there agin next year :)

LOL ..... I'm glad they like it, but if you like olives it's understandable that it came a close second I suppose! Personally I prefer wood!! :D

When I finally get to carve a litho on my new machine I'm going to be coming to you for pointers. Yours are really excellent. I like the coloured ones using the printer transparency, which is something I definately have to take a shot at. :)

Hi,

Is the quality of detail for lithos created in Aspire the same as Photo carve?

Cheers....Kym

Hi Kym,
As I don't have PVC, I can't really answer your question, but I can say that Aspire does a beautiful job. I used a 60º V bit to make this one - it has been done by many on this forum and is not an original from me.
I believe Kent - (calgndr) the "Litho Master" did the original and a bunch of us just copied it. It is beautiful regardless.

I used Photo Vcarve for all my lithos until more recently I use Aspire.

At first I thought the quality was not as good in Aspire but I now think it is the same.

A lot depends on the original photo used. Many, but not all, will improve the litho by blurring very slightly.

For Photo Vcarve I used to do this with a gaussian blur in a photo editing program.

Now with Aspire I use the smoothing filter. Just a very small amount.

Another advantage with Aspire is the ability to do odd shapes and profile cut them out. Like the wolf moon above.

This can be done in photo Vcarve with the help of a photo editing program but in Aspire it call all be done within the one program.
