Greetings All,
First a big shout out to the forum and the great support by all, and the great Vectric products.
Here is an output from the other day I feel is pretty good finally. I feel like I am getting better with each project.
I call it "If Looks Could Kill" My stepson dressed our cat with the hat and kerchief. The cat tolerated only long enogh to get the snap.
the settings are:
Picture 6 x 5
1/4" corian (0.265 Actual)
60IPM xy 15IPM z 13K rpm
30Deg VBit (set up as 0.03 BN)
15% stepover
0.225 Max Depth (Z to Bottom) (0.04 at lightest)
45Deg Angle
Took about 5 Hours to cut, but the best outcome so far.

Very nice Bill . If your machine can handle it jump the X,Y speeds to 150-200 ipm and the z to 50 ipm
will cut time down considerably
again great job

Thanks kent. I was watching the cut and it held about 45 on deep so wanted to be careful.
With size I think bigger could equal faster.
Thanks for the feedback.

I have cut quite few Lithophanes at 150ipm andfor the most part only reach 80-90 ipm but when it does reach speed save lots of time . For larger lithophane with less resolution you can do the same with tapered 1/16 or straight 1/8 bit.
Have fun I know I have

Hi Kent,
I loaded the suggested settings for gee wizzers and with an over 1/2 the time savings at 150IPM, I will try it on my next one.
As you say, it will be slower when needed, bu time back cant be bad
Thanks again.

Bill,
One of the best I've seen. No roughing cut?

No roughing. Once I found the vbit in place of the ball nose, single pass.
Works great when you get the hang of it. The preview even looks decent.

Re: First Litho - If Looks Could Kill
Sorry to resurect an old post, just wanted to post an update and show what is possible for our hard work and efforts.
The background - I framed and entered the litho in an employee art show. This is a major pharmacuetical company of which I am a contract worker. There were approximately 175 entries for this exhibit.
The artwork collective was voted upon by internal people and external guest judges that are brought in to speak and review. Dr. Wheeler is the North Carlolina Museam of Art director. Quite a big name in the art community. He spent a long time with my entry and another, but he was facinated with the medium and detail of the litho.
The result speeks for itself. Third place was achieved and all I can say is wow. Never expected that. The other art works were fantastic and represented some very talented work. To be fair, there were other entries that won other awards, but this speaks volumes to what is possible.
In short, anything is possible, dont be afraid to put it out there. You never know who is going to take a liking to your work. It is just one small possiblity with great Vectric products, fantastic support both by Vectric and this forum. I want to thank all who take the time to give feedback and the helpful niudge from time to time.
