Great pics. They came out great. Can you tell me what bits you used and the settings that you used?

Thanks for the kind words.

Jus finished this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CFBlqgqzIw

For small detailed pictures i use 0.2mm V-bit's
For medium 0.3mm
And the large i use 0.5mm
I also have the line spacing as vide as the v-bit i use so i remove all the material and get a 3D-surface corresponding to the picture.

The real difficult part was to find a surface finishing method that delivers these kind of results 8)

I could get interested in photo carving like this. Those are great. I am going to have to save up for photocarve.

Beautiful!

How do you get zero spacing between the the lines with the slider control. Are you using a different bit than you are selecting. Iv'e been experimenting with this and can't get 0 between the lines and make a smooth surface. I've tried using a different bit than selected and gotten close. I'm running out of scrap wood and sure would appreciate the ultimate tip. Thanks in advance for any info you wan't to share.

I'm not sure I follow the line spacing as being the same as how wide the v-bit is. Can you explain this a little more for me. Being in North America here our bits are still sold in imperial messurments. What is a .2 mm bit I have not seen them before. Also what types of finishes are you using this worrk is very nice. I know it takes a while to get that kind of quality but any suggestions from you would be great.

I'm sorry i called them V-bit's
I use engraving tools with a flat tip of lets say 0.3mm

I then change the settings in the line spacing box so i get the "distance between lines" to approximatley the flat tip diameter. When i do this i remove the material.

Look at the screendump i have attached.

Any help?

Very very nice work, I hope that I can get results like this or even half as good. I have my first grandson that I will be meeting in two months and would love to get images looking like this. Feed me more info I'm hungry LOL.

It's just a hobby at the moment but i had serious plans on going "big" with these pictures at the beginning of this year but a joboffer that i could not turn down came to me.
I still am absolutley shure that it would not be a problem at all making a good living out of selling these products. It's a unique gift and the customers are totally happy with what i deliver. Maybe i will take this to the next level but that involves a lot of different steps......

I cut these pictures at a maximum cutting dept of 1mm, if you look close at the attached picture where i show the engraving tool you see the 1mm setting

Take care,
/Markus
