R2d2 Booster rockets
R2d2 Booster rockets
These were my first successful mills for the blue things on the side of a full sized r2d2.
Re: R2d2 Booster rockets
i chose pink foam for 2 reasons, Its light and wont add much to the weight,

Hello,
They turned out very good! Was it all machined from one side? Thanks for posting the picture.

Wow another WES! thats weird. Yes, machined from 1 side in 2 inch pink foam. Im going to coat them with a shellac or marine sealer and sand and paint blue.
Cheers.

I modified the design of the booster rockets to be cut out of flat styrene sheet. Much more sturdy and stable.

Re: R2d2 Booster rockets
looks like you should have doen that in 2d most could be done with no 3d at all.
Re: R2d2 Booster rockets
the styrene design was done in 2d.. the first one was a 3d model, So Ive used both, and like the 2d one best...knighttoolworks wrote:looks like you should have doen that in 2d most could be done with no 3d at all.
Re: R2d2 Booster rockets
well the boosters are pretty old... but I did manage to make almost a whole r2 from the cnc machine, with cut2d and cut3d
