Hi Folks!
Here is a recent project using Brady Watson's laser scanning service (www.ibild.com) and Vectric's Cut3D.
It started with a request to make a 5 ft tall double sided wooden mask based on a smaller version.
Attached below is a picture of the original mask.
After Brady's laser scan and his cleanup of imperfections in the model, another picture of the 3D model as viewed by Cut3D.
I took this model into TurboCad Pro v14 and mirror copied it back to back, flattened it slightly to reduce the z height, then sliced it to create the separate layers. Cut3D also does this, but I'm very familiar with Turbocad so I used that.
Then using Cut3D, I carved the individual pieces from cypress slabs from my sawmill and included registration holes for alligning the layers. My customer assembled it and applied the finish and head dressing.
Below is a picture of the finished product. This was a really fun but challenging job. I'm looking forward to my next 3D job using Cut3D.
