Paper Rose Carving
I found a hand made greeting card that someone had made a paper-pulp insert, and had pressed
it into a mold. I have a Roland Picza, and thought with its very light touch, I would be able to
probe the paper. The paper was 3x5". I loaded the probed .stl file into Cut3D, and scaled it to 8x12",
It was then cut into a 1" Spanish Cedar, using a 1/8" round nose bit, which took about 4 hours
on my ShopBot. Did a light ‘mop’ sanding, and sprayed it with shellac.

Tim, Andy & Greg...
Thanks for the comments....
Greg, the Pizca, has the ability to get rather fine detail, as the probe is like a 'pin' point, as I remember I had the program set at .008". As I wanted to get all the detail, and at the same time, knew that when I cut it, I also did not want to have to do much sanding, again because of the detail. As it was the .stl file from the Roland was 10mb.

Paul,
that came out well and is an interesting demonstration of how sensitive the picza is. While the Picza is very slow at scanning the beauty of it is you can just leave it going while you do something else, even if it takes 2 or 3 days! Even though they no longer make it there is still nothing I have seen which gets close to its "off the machine" quality for the price.
Cheers,
James

Finished !!
I just got this done in time for a Christmas gift for the wife.
I used a product called "Baroque Art Gilders Paste". It is a highly pigmented, wax-based product. See at:

I am really happy with the effect, and the ease of using it.

Jim...
Thanks for the comment.....
The place I bought mine was:
http://turtlefeathers.com/text/products ... paste.html
They sell it in smaller tins, plus have some usage data available, that I found helpful... The tins I got where $6.50 ea. They also sell the full set of colors available.
They also have another product that I bought, but have not used as yet, that is the "InLace Inlay Product". This also is available in different colors.
Merry Christmas !!
Enjoy !!
