Pair of Padauk Ducks
Just finished a pair of the Mallard Ducks, cut in Padauk.
Was the first time cutting this type wood. Was very pleased, and
the finishing was rather easy. These are about 9 inches long, and were
cut from 3/4" stock.

I like cutting with Padauk. But man is it ever dusty and gets all over everything. It likes to leave your bits with that nice red dust on it. I always thought it had a weird smell also . Anyways are those duck inlaid into the wood? -AD
Buckle up... it makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your car!

AngelicDiablo...
No, these are not inlayed.
I have not made the 'back ground' for mounting the ducks as yet, am still
trying to find just the right design. My thought was some sort of 'cloud' or
even 'cattail' boarders. I wanted to mount the ducks, raised a bit off the
surface, to give a more 3D effect.
The attached are a few ideas I've been playing with, but still looking.

Tim...........
Thanks !! It was a fun project, and am thinking about other combo units..
I'm not sure of the name for the wood. It came from a furniture company that
went out of business. I'm told that it is in the maple family, but comes from off-shore
somewhere. The slats were 2" wide, 1" thick, in various lengths. So I just glue them
up, to make whatever size I want. It works nice. the only thing I don't care for,
as you can see in the picture, it in kind of 'yellow', it you don't stain it...
And yes, I did get the PM !! Will get to it in a couple days !!
